Junior CAD Engineer

What sets sail from your sketch? Imagine this: your first sketch becomes something real. As a Junior CAD Engineer, you help design maritime constructions that will actually set sail. You model ship components, collaborate with experienced engineers and make sure every detail is in place. Your design is the foundation we build on and the starting point of something that will set sail.

Your impact in this role:

  • Detailing and modelling ship designs and maritime constructions
  • Working together with structural engineers to turn their calculations into drawings
  • Designing (parts of) objects, constructions, installations etc.
  • Drawing up technical documentation such as drawings, 3D models and operational instructions

With this skillset, you’re good to go:

  • An MBO-level degree in Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field
  • 0-2 years of experience in the maritime industry
  • Basic knowledge of CAD software, such as AutoCAD/BricsCAD and preferably Autodesk Inventor
  • Strong communication and social skills
  • A positive mindset and team spirit

We offer:

  • A competitive salary package, including profit-sharing based on team performance
  • Excellent secondary benefits, including 31.5 vacation days (25 standard + 6.5 extra)
  • 39-hour workweek with early Friday afternoon finish
  • Option to purchase additional vacation days
  • A dynamic and flexible role within a fast-growing company
  • Plenty of opportunities for professional development and career growth
  • Hybrid working possibilities with the option to work partly from home
  • Daily fresh fruit at work
  • Friday afternoon get-together, regular social events, team dinners, sports activities, outings, and more

“Teamwork makes the dream work”

I co-founded Saltwater Engineering back in January 2007. Today, as CEO, I’m responsible for our day-to-day operations. Over the years we’ve built strong, lasting relationships with our clients, and we’re still growing. That’s why we’re looking for a Senior CAD Engineer to help us take the next step.

I’d like to hear what motivates you to join our team.

Wouter Besemer
Lead Engineer

“From intern to Lead Engineer”

At Saltwater, I’m living proof that anything is possible. I started here as an intern in January 2011, now I’ve been a Lead Engineer for four years. In this role I act as the link between our clients and our team, making sure we deliver on time.

As a Senior CAD Engineer you’ll work on diverse projects that truly support your professional growth. What excites you about this opportunity?

Vincent Oudakker
Lead Engineer

“Silent forces come into their own”

In twelve years I’ve grown from Junior to Lead Engineer. Since mid-2023 I’ve been leading projects and working closely with clients, often under tight deadlines. That pressure makes the work dynamic, and the relaxed team atmosphere keeps it enjoyable. At Saltwater, “anything is possible” isn’t just a motto, it’s how we work.

I look forward to teaming up with a new Junior CAD Engineer to keep growing and building long-term client relationships. What will you bring to the table?
